20–30 min

What It Builds

Anxiety management by externalizing worries so they feel smaller and more manageable, plus a sense of containment and control.

How to Do It

  1. 1

    Decorate a small box together.

  2. 2

When a worry comes up, your child writes or draws it and places it in the box.

  3. 3

Set a regular "worry time" to open the box and talk through worries together.

  4. 4

Sort which worries you can solve and which to let go.

  5. 5

Close the box until next time.

Tips & Variations

  • For non-writers, draw the worry.
  • Reassure that the box keeps worries safe so they can be set down.
  • Celebrate worries that have shrunk.
